The Animation Project is an adaptation of the series. Like the 2011 adaptation of the original The iDOLM@STER series, the Animation Project is by A-1 Pictures, a studio subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment's anime production firm Aniplex.

The adaptation was first announced on the second day of THE IDOLM@STER SideM 2nd STAGE ~ORIGIN@L STARS~ concerts at the Makuhari Messe on February 12, 2017 . A promotional video announcing the adaptation was uploaded to YouTube on the same day.

A livestream on Nico Nico Douga took place on March 15, 2017, otherwise known as "Saikou Day." The event took place at the Ani ON AKIHABARA Bookstore in front of a live audience and was hosted by Shuugo Nakamura and Yuuma Uchida, with special guests Yuichiro Umehara, Shun Horie, and Tomohito Takatsuka.[1] A second PV was released and a second key visual was revealed, both featuring the members of Beit. The staff members were also announced and posted on the Official Anime site. [2]

A second Nico livestream was held on Thursday, April 13, entitled "If There's a Reason, NicoStream! ~Side Animation~". It was hosted by Umehara, Horie, and Takatsuka, with special guests soon to be announced. [3]

They want to stand out and show themselves to the public, but their methods end up making the photos look ridiculous. Meanwhile, Jupiter is about to stage its first concert under 315 - but thanks to a typhoon, their usual crew can't make it in on time. Not only do the boys of 315 have to think of a new theme, but they have to find a way to help Jupiter's first concert be a success...

DRAMATIC STARS is about to stage its own first concert. Tsubasa is happy to be able to participate, but he soon has a nasty case of stage fright -- the light of the stage reminds him of his first outing as a pilot, where he froze up during turbulence and was too scared to do anything lest he accidentally crash the plane. The emotions start flooding back, and he soon feels like he wants to quit DRAMATIC STARS -- if he could fail then, why not now and ruin his teammates' dreams? Teru and Kaoru need to find a way to reassure him and keep the trio together.

While filming for a community video about the strip mall Beit used to work for, they learn of a festival being used to promote it that might give the mall the edge over the planned new indoor mall by the Takajo Corporation. The group decides to preform there with High×Joker providing backup, and they take in the sights of the festival as it's being set up. Pierre accidentally wanders into a truck and gets taken with it; with only a few hours away before the mini concert, it's up to Beit and Pierre's bodyguards to find him before it's too late.

S.E.M is going to be holding their debut concert at a private school, so they need to get themselves in shape for the event. The rest of 315 is put on an early morning training regimen with them, but Jiro's struggling to keep up with their energy. The teachers do their best to stay on track for the school concert, but they're going to need a lot more than drive to fulfill their dream...

Producer is rushed to the hospital where he meets a soccer player, Yusuke who stays at a neighbor room and his twin brother, Kyosuke, who plays soccer with him. Yusuke has an injury from recklessly playing soccer. The doctor reports that Yusuke's injury is severe, so he can't play soccer like he used to anymore. Kyosuke feels guilty and blames Yusuke's injury on himself. Between their promise and hard times, they make a decision to move on from soccer stars to idols.

High×Joker's Shiki has an idea to make a documentary video to promote their band. Shiki starts filming the other members's activity and their daily life, which make Jun feel annoyed to Shiki's hype. Shiki also visits Haruna's construction site and breaks into Jun's house. Finally, everyone reveals what they think High×Joker has brought them.

Jupiter members are working as solo with another unit. Touma and Teru visit the concert hall where their concert is held. Shouta goes filming a TV show with W and Hokuto, along with Rui from S.E.M for a radio program. After they're back from work the situation after Jupiter's concert in Episode 0 is finally revealed.

High×Joker plans to hold a live concert at their school. Hayato has a plan to show the new song in the concert. The news is spread by Shiki but Jun isn't happy about it, since it puts pressure on Hayato. Jun blames Shiki for announcing this too early, being scared of what would happen if the song isn't finished by the live concert. However, Shiki keeps trying to promote the concert because he wants everyone to come and watch their concert. Finally, the song is finished with help from everyone.

Kaoru starts a solo job along side his idol job which makes everyone worry about him. Teru has a plan to make him go on vacation at a hot spring so he may relax. However, after the hot spring trip everything geso worse when Producer rejects his TV series offer and Kaoru then desires to work without Producer's permission.

This episode is a live concert starting from High×Joker, S.E.M, W, Beit, Jupiter, and DRAMATIC STARS. At the end of concert they all perform the anime's signature song, Reason!!. After the concert they celebrate the Christmas at the office. Producer keeps on scouting new idols and everyone keeps on working.
