Updated template[edit source]

Hey, I haven't been able to use Discord lately so I'll let you know here that I've updated the Template:CharUnitNav template. Not sure yet but I figure we can add LOS birthday comments on the same page but put them under a different header, i.e. have two headers on each page (SideM and LOS). But don't worry about that for now since most of the LOS birthday lines aren't translated anyway.

On character pages, I really appreciate what you've done so far! The new layout for discography looks great and it's neat to visually see how many albums they've been in. However, could I ask that you not include the manga images in the pages, please? There's not much purpose since wiki readers can just view the pictures on the magazine pages themselves (also on smaller screens including phones, it can take up space and cross into the gallery section like so).

Lastly, I don't mind the Notable Events section, but do you have reasoning behind placing those certain events in the spotlight? In Haruna's case, I get that the Blessing Garden Wedding and Arthur events are important for him (even if he's a R in Arthur), but he kinda does nothing in the Paranormal Academy event nor is he a SR there. Same with Hayato, he doesn't do anything important in Paranormal Academy and Blessing Garden Wedding and he's not a SR either.

But overall, good work on everything for real! I'm sorry if I sound harsh or anything here, it's because I'm using proper grammar and now I don't want to go back and edit it, LOL.

Hey Clay! No, please don't feel you're harsh writing that because really, I'm thankful for the feedback (actually plan to ask for it in discord but keep forgetting). For the magazine picture, I just do it on a whim and yeah it doesn't look good on smaller devices, will change it to a linked text for the magazine I think interesting for the characters in trivia section!).
For the notable events... I kinda just put where the character has any role in a movie type event and then the notable event that has the character in spotlight, but because lack of knowledge I guess it became a random pick for some (lol). What do you think the better sorting choice to put in there? _(´ཀ`」 ∠)ーdrgng (talk) 10:54, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

I think instead of linking interesting magazines by themselves, you could put in interesting trivia, and if you think there's a magazine that is a good reference for that piece of trivia, you can link that? e.g.

(don't use those examples though they suck as trivia lmao) At this time, most characters don't really have that many translated magazines to begin with, so there's no need to make a list of interesting mags. Also, it's up to you if you wanna do it as direct linking, reference list at the end of page, or referencing with tip-text.

As for notable events, I'm not really sure either TBH? I don't really think a wiki should be judging which events are 'notable' but at the same time its useful for seeing which events are good for a character's development in story? (That's the point, right?) Usually character development happens in marathon events for the SR idol, but there are some exceptions too. I guess for now, only put marathon events where the idol is the SR in the 'notable events' section unless you know there is a decent amount of character development in another event that doesn't fit that criteria (e.g. Natsuki in Paranormal Academy or Genbu in Crimson Live).

This might be too much to discuss, but actually about the trivia section itself... I think it's good for things like "Hayato has an older brother" and "Teru's birthday was originally ___", but it shouldn't be used for actual backstory/personality points. A couple of my friends were talking about how they like SideM Miraheze because it doesn't go much into character personality so fans have to go out and read stories themselves, forming their own opinion (which is certainly possible now that there are so many translations-- and the event translations are even linked on each idols' page). Don't worry about removing those points on past pages for now, but just keep it in mind for the future, I guess... not every idol needs trivia if there's nothing notable to add.

BTW, I've updated the look of the tabber so Ctrl-Shift-R if you're on Chrome! I know it's not centered on card pages RN but lemme know if you think it looks alright. Sorry for such a long message, and goodnight!

Got it! Will keep it in mind for the future! Also for the tabber new style, it looks neat and blends well to page for me (It surprised me a bit tho I thought something happen to the tabber w). All in all, thank you for the feedbacks and hardworks too! _(´ཀ`」 ∠)ーdrgng (talk) 13:24, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Idol Page[edit source]

Heya, some stuff about the idol pages again. I think the bottom halves of the pages are kinda image-heavy with the notable events, discography, and gallery all being down there. It's not a major issue, but it does lengthen the page for mobile viewers a bit. So before you continue updating the pages, I'd like to ask your opinion on two alternatives:

1. Combining Notable Events into Event and Gacha History
2. Making separate tabs for different parts of the idols' page (if this is the case, the css/style of the HeaderTabs will be changed, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet)

However, neither Tabber nor HeaderTabs work on mobile view... but if we decide to go with either of these options, I can disable mobile view (since I'm pretty sure everyone uses desktop view on mobile anyway)

Not changing it at all is also fine BTW! I know you've done a lot of work so far so I don't wanna suddenly spring another thing on you.

I like the first option! It looked lighter (and applicable), It does look image-heavy when I formatted it but I don't know what to do without using anything complicated, will apply it later!
OH AND! If it is possible to disable mobile view I will welcome it more than anything /o/ (have been adding the desktop view command manually in the link so people wouldn't have to view mobile lol) _(´ཀ`」 ∠)ーdrgng (talk) 08:02, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

OK, I'll change the IdolGameHistory tempalte in a sec then (and I'll also try to move as many idols' Notable Events into the new template as I can since I wanted to adjust which events were there anyway)! I've also disabled MobileFrontend now, hopefully nothing breaks lol... I think everything looks better on Desktop mode on mobile instead of Mobile mode itself except for infoboxes. It seems that they don't display very well since they're still right-aligned. If you have any solution to that, please let me know but otherwise I'll keep looking around.

Clay (talk) 12:34, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Hold on... ignore my last message about the infoboxes, I checked on an actual mobile device (instead of just a mobile spoofer) and it seems to be fine after all? Depends on your phone size of course but it should be fine for most phones I think... might be an issue for iPads/tablets though but I have no way of checking that >__> Also Template:IdolGameHistory has been updated now but apparently those template tag things {{{these ones}}} don't work with gallery, or it might be an issue with Tabber, IDK. For now, I just made it into a normal set of images rather than a gallery, but it doesn't look nearly as good... (also it's currently not displaying the 5th and 6th image for some reason so I'll fix that later)

Clay (talk) 00:44, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

(Sorry I just saw this hshsk) OK! I think it will be fine for now, and will try to tweak the images format a bit! _(´ཀ`」 ∠)ーdrgng (talk) 08:56, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
